Development Gateway Foundation: ICTs Are An Integral Part of HIV/AIDS Programs.
How has the Information Society made an impact on the HIV/AIDS epidemic?
According to the Development Gateway Foundation (DGF), a brief stock-taking reveals that the quantum jump in the HIV/AIDS ‘message and medium explosion’ has largely been possible through information and communication technologies (ICTs) – a factor in making communication itself a major component in campaigns to prevent and control the epidemic.
Be it through radio, television and the web to send messages, or CD-ROMs and DVDs to present materials - ICTs form the building blocks of modern systems which make the production and content development of video and audio programs, the access to messages and information, and the large-scale dissemination of information, easier.
