| Description: |
Many countries in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) have made significant progress towards developing their information and telecommunications markets, as well as increasing Internet access and mobile phone density. Significant opportunities exist for U.S. telecommunications equipment vendors and telephone service operators throughout the continent. Furthermore, many countries in SSA are eager to further develop their information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure, and to make a variety of e-education, e-health and e - government services available to their citizens.
To assist countries in SSA to realize their goals in the ICT sector, the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development, will sponsor the Sub-Saharan Africa Information and Communications Technology Conference: Solutions for a Vibrant ICT Market. The conference will bring together public- and private-sector project sponsors, ICT sector leaders and key decision makers, and a range of U.S. equipment and service providers catering to this industry.
High level public and private sector stake holders from Algeria, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Congo, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda will attend the conference to present project opportunities and discuss new ICT technologies.
