Mrs Knigge was born in Wuppertal, Germany. She completed her studies in medicine at the Justus- Liebig University of Giessen, Germany.
Since 2000 Mrs Knigge took over responsibility as GTZ regional health coordinator for the Southern African Development Community (SADC). Apart from direct collaboration with the SADC health desk in the field of HIV/AIDS/Tuberculosis control she is responsible for Public Private Partnership Projects on HIV/AIDS workplace programmes for the private sector (e.g. DaimlerChrysler SA (DC-Services, T-Systems, Eurocopter; EADS; SA, Debis IT Services, SA); Robert Bosch, SA; Volkswagen, SA; Roche, SA;).
Mrs Knigge works as a Public Health specialist for the German Technical Cooperation in the field of infectious disease control management with main emphasis on TB/HIV/AIDS control. Country responsibility lies in: Pakistan, Georgia, Armenia, Russian Federation (West Siberia), South Africa, and the member states of the Southern Africa Development Community.
She completed her Master of Science in Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London, UK. Topic: “„Validity of symptom screening in the Diagnosis of pulmonary childhood Tuberculosis in Zambia“. Mrs Knigge works on an interim basis at Head Quarter level for the World Health Organisation in Geneva as well as advisor for HIV/Tuberculosis Control at the regional WHO office in Manila, Philippines.
As a Medical Officer she worked for the German Technical cooperation at the Basic Health Services Project (main focus Tuberculosis/HIV/AIDS control) in Fort Portal, Uganda with interim assignments to Malawi, Namibia and Zambia.
