As the COO, Mr. Johnson spearheads the international expansion and operations of the world’s second largest quick service chicken restaurant chain. His responsibilities include international expansion strategies, franchisee selection, prototypical venue development, restaurant operations, business support, research and development, international brand marketing, and cooperative purchasing programs.
Mr. Johnson works with a comprehensive team of experienced international professionals at Church’s Chicken and has directed the expansion into 19 African countries, South America, and throughout the Caribbean and Latin America since joining Church’s Chicken in 2000. In 2002, Church’s Chicken has also started expanding on their Asian presence with the introduction of the brand into the South Pacific in Guam and Saipan.
Mr. Johnson brings more than 20 years of restaurant experience to Church’s Chicken. Previously, he was Senior Vice President of International for Ruby Tuesday, Inc., where the international team expanded the casual dining restaurant’s presence with franchise agreements in 19 countries around the world.
Prior to Ruby Tuesday, Mr. Johnson was Vice President of International Operations for Carlson Restaurants’ T.G.I.F. In that role, he was responsible for restaurant expansion and operations in 56 countries. Mr. Johnson’s experience also includes multi-unit management with Bennigan’s, a division of Metromedia Restaurants, Inc.
A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Tom holds a bachelor’s degree in law from Western State University.
