RE: Procedures for Re-scheduled Summit

As you now know, the U.S.-Africa Business Summit of the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) has been re-scheduled for October 30 to November 2, 2001. If you are reading this and have not yet registered for the summit, please go to CCA's website at click here to obtain a registration form for the re-scheduled summit.

If you previously submitted a registration form, please review carefully this memorandum in order to re-confirm your participation in the summit and for details on re-confirmation of hotel rooms, etc.

PLEASE NOTE: Before contacting CCA with questions about the re-scheduled summit, please review the CCA website for summit updates and a listing of frequently asked questions (FAQs). If you still need more information after reviewing the website, please submit your questions to CCA via email at or via fax at +1 (202) 835-1117. CCA pledges to do its utmost to respond promptly via email or fax. No telephone calls please.

I. Confirmation of Participation

Using the attached one-page form, please indicate whether you intend to participate in the re-scheduled summit. CCA must receive any cancellations via fax at +1 (484) 530-0667 by close of business October 12, 2001. Failure to do so will result in your being considered as a confirmed participant in the re-scheduled summit. No refund will be given to individuals who fail to notify CCA by October 12 that they will not participate. More information on refunds for confirmed cancellations is found below.

II. Hotel Arrangements

All summit participants must immediately contact All Star Travel Agency at +1 (301) 656-4441 or via email at to reconfirm all hotel arrangements. Through All Star Travel Agency, CCA has negotiated special rates for hotel rooms in Philadelphia. CCA is not responsible for making hotel arrangements for the re-scheduled summit.

III. Agenda Modifications

All re-confirmed participants should note that the summit agenda will be slightly modified and should regularly consult CCA's website for agenda updates. Participants should especially note that the primary summit venue has changed. The summit will now take place at the Philadelphia Marriott Hotel, located at 1201 Market Street in downtown Philadelphia. The Marriott Hotel is directly across the street from the Loews Hotel, which was the venue for the originally scheduled summit.

Except for the new dates, the major agenda items remain unaffected, including the workshop schedule, Philadelphia city tours, Philadelphia Night, New Jersey Night and the Gala Awards Dinner. Unfortunately, the golf outing, Atlantic City Tour and the opening dinner will no longer take place. The networking time scheduled for the second day of the summit has been replaced by a large exposition-sized venue inside the Philadelphia Marriott Hotel that will be arranged to facilitate networking at all times during the summit, as well as a large networking reception. Please continue to consult CCA's website for additional agenda modifications.

Again, workshop schedules will remain the same. No re-registration for the workshops is required.

IV. Refunds

CCA regrets the likelihood that some previously registered participants will no longer be able to attend the U.S.-Africa Business Summit.

CCA will refund the participation fee for those previously registered participants who notify CCA by close of business October 12, 2001 of their intention to cancel their registration by using the attached one-page form. The form should be sent to CCA via fax at +1 (484) 530-0667. The original summit confirmation ID code MUST be provided in order to process refunds.

A US$200.00 processing fee will be assessed on all refunds. Refunds will be processed only after November 2, 2001. CCA will NOT process refunds before the 2001 U.S.-Africa Business Summit.

V. New Registrations Are Being Accepted!

If you know of business leaders who wished to participate in the originally scheduled U.S.-Africa Business Summit but could not do so, please encourage them to register now. To obtain new registration forms follow the detailed links to the U.S. - Africa Business Summit on CCA's website africacncl.org. The deadline for registration is October 12, 2001.
