In response to the commercial interests of its member companies, CCA expanded its Algeria Working Group to include a broader focus on Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco and Tunisia. The Maghreb Working Group is chaired by Ambassador Robert Pelletreau, Chairman of the Algeria Working Group and former Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs. Under the chairmanship of Ambassador Pelletreau, the Maghreb Working Group seeks to promote and enhance US-Maghreb commercial relations. It works to raise the profile of the North African region within the US Government and with other American companies. CCA regularly hosts Maghreb region heads of state and other high-level government officials. Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika was a keynote speaker at CCA's U.S.-Africa Business Summit in Philadelphia in November 2001.
