BP Angola Appointment
May 1 , 2001 -- BP announced today the appointment of former Angolan Ambassador Jose Goncalves Martins Patricio as Executive Vice President of BP's Angola Business Unit. He will be based in Luanda and starts his new post on May 1.
BP’s Angola Business Unit President Joe Bryant said, “I am very pleased that we have been able to attract to our company a man of such impressive leadership skills, vision and commitment to his country as Ambassador Patricio. We all look forward to working with him to help us build a model company in Angola, working with the country and its people to build a more constructive future.”
Ambassador Patricio said, “It is a great honour for me to have this tremendous opportunity with BP to continue my life long efforts of helping to build a more constructive future for Angola. BP is unique among foreign companies in its desire to build an Angolan company in Angola, and is fully committed to ensure that its investments benefit the country and people.”
Ambassador Patricio, 46, who currently serves as the Angolan Ambassador to the United Nations, has previously served as Angolan Ambassador to Portugal, and also opened his country’s embassy in Washington in 1993. Prior to that, Ambassador Patricio served as Information Secretary in the Office of the President. In 1993 he was named by the World Economic Forum as one of the 200 Leaders of the Future.
