Formed in 2003, the CCA HIV/AIDS Initiative is funded by The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and other donors. This program addresses issues faced by U.S. businesses in Africa and seeks to increase corporate involvement in the fight against HIV/AIDS. One of the Initiative's primary goals is to institutionalize within CCA’s membership the ability to educate corporate members on how to develop and implement effective HIV/AIDS business plans and policies and to ensure that HIV/AIDS prevention programs are available to all employees and their dependents. Over the grant's three-year duration, CCA will work with each of its corporate members to establish effective HIV/AIDS policies and programs in the workplace.
The CCA HIV/AIDS Initiative focuses on the following areas:
- Designing, developing and implementing HIV/AIDS workplace policies and prevention education programs for CCA members and their Africa based employees and family members.
- Increasing corporate partnerships in the co-financing of effective HIV/AIDS programs and institutions.
- Enhancing member company participation in developing national HIV/AIDS plans and collaborating with African national commissions on HIV/AIDS issues.
- Forming a CCA Task Force to work with members to develop strategies and review progress.
