Information for Press/Media

The Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) will hold its fourth biennial U.S.-Africa Business Summit this year from June 24-27, 2003 at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington D.C. The Summit’s theme is Building Partnerships.

Press Accreditation and Registration

CCA welcomes journalists at the conference. Press registration is open to any member of the broadcast, print and Internet media who can prove they work for a recognized organization or publication. These credentials are not available to book publishers, consultants, or production personnel at media outlets.

Accreditation Guidelines

We welcome anyone to apply for press credentials but reserve the right to deny you a pass. Registration will not be guaranteed for those who fail to submit the proper documentation.

As such, please be prepared to show us copies of your articles should we request it.
Details of your credentials must be specified on the accreditation form. Acceptable press credentials are listed below

Appropriate Documentation Requirements:
For each category please provide one of the following

Trade and Business Publications/ Newspaper and Wires Services

  • A business card with your editorial title from an established publication or media outlet

  • A current editorial masthead that includes your name and title

  • Two bylined articles published within the last six months

Broadcast TV/Radio Reporters, Producers and Camera/Sound Crews

  • A business card with your name, station, and title that represents these roles

  • A broadcast station identification card with your name and title that represents these roles.

Freelance Writers/Reporters

  • Original letter of assignment or a copy of your contract from the editor-in-chief at a news organization

  • Two samples of bylined articles published within the last six months
    Those who are not currently under contract are not eligible for media credentials

Foreign Correspondents based in the United States

  • Foreign press credentials issued by the Foreign Press Centers of the United States

International Media based outside of the United States

  • Original letter of assignment or a copy of your contract from the editor-in-chief at a news organization

  • Two samples of bylined articles published within the last six months

Formal Notification of Accreditation


Persons seeking press accreditation will be formally notified that they have secured credentials for the Annual Meetings. Confirmations will be sent via e-mail by June 16. Those who do not receive a confirmation should contact
Journalists must come in person to register and must present their credentials along with a valid photo ID. Press will be issued press passes to be worn throughout their stay at the conference.

Journalists who have secured accreditation can pick up Press Passes for the conference at the press registration booth on the concourse level of the Washington Hilton Hotel. Registration will be open Tuesday, June 24, 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; Wednesday, June 25, 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; Thursday, June 26, 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; and Friday, June 27, 7:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon. The Press Pass grants access to the Press Room, press conferences and briefings, plenary sessions and workshops at the conference.

*Please note that the press registration list is typically shared with conference participants.
 

Press Room and Communications Arrangements


CCA will provide a Press Room at the Washington Hilton Hotel; it will be open Tuesday, June 24, 8:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.; Wednesday, June 25, and Thursday, June 26, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; and Friday, June 27, 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

The Press Room will be equipped work stations and electrical outlets for laptop computers. Computers will not be provided. If members of the press would like a phone line, please arrange for it directly with the hotel. To purchase a phone line please contact Alex Bryant at (202) 797-5775 or by email .
