CCA believes that HIV/AIDS is a significant deterrent to financial investment in some African environments and is convinced that there is an important role for the private sector to play in addressing the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa. The workplace is an effective setting for the delivery of HIV prevention education and awareness. The private sector has also displayed an ability to reach workers, families and communities adversely affected by this disease. In addition, community outreach through involvement in HIV/AIDS prevention and care not only addresses community needs but also helps to sustain the workforce and enhance the corporate citizenship profile of a company.
