"Join me in speaking up loud and clear about HIV/AIDS. Join me in tearing down the walls of silence and discrimination that surround the epidemic”. ~ Koffi Annan, World AIDS Day 2003, New York.
The New CCA HIV/AIDS & Health Initiative
The CCA HIV/AIDS & Health Initiative began in September 2003 with the mandate to work with CCA membership to provide HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment to their Africa-based workforces. In 2008, the Initiative decided to expand its mandate to more broadly encourage private sector solutions to Africa's health care challenges, including but not limited to the HIV/AIDS crisis. Having declared the private sector to be the "missing piece" in health care in Africa, the Initiative now aims to broker leveraged partnerships between private sector leadership and other stakeholders to create long-term, sustainable responses to health-related issues in Africa.
