Background:
On March 9, 2005, the CCA HIV/AIDS Initiative, in collaboration with VOXIVA, BroadReach Healthcare, Development Gateway Foundation and Bridges.org, convened a meeting of CCA members, partners and invited guests representing the communications and the digital and information technology industries to discuss the creation of new markets, the expansion of current markets, and innovative applications for existing technologies for healthcare delivery in Africa.
This meeting presented participants with the issues, obstacles and opportunities in developing and marketing these types of products and services to fulfill the need for virtual healthcare infrastructure in Africa. It provided participants with the opportunity to learn about potential innovative uses for technology by sub-sector; share ideas, experiences and resources; and meet partners that can assist in the development and implementation of new solutions.
